We managed the property with dedication until a tragic fire in 2023 changed our journey. From that challenge, we reinvented our path by launching ADKCamps, LLC, growing our short-term vacation rental management business to include 25 properties across the West Central Adirondack Region. Driving up from Forestport to Old Forge and Inlet every summer and weekend was always something to look forward to. Between the numerous hikes and attractions, what's not to love? It wasn't until one summer when I was supposed to spend three months working a summer job in Big Moose that I realized that I wanted to stay. That was 5 years ago now and I have enjoyed every day living and working in this beautiful area. While many real estate agents claim to be “buyer agents” not all buyer agents are Exclusive Buyer Agents. There is a difference:
Any real estate agent can call themselves a “buyer agent” and provide basic home search and showing appointment services. They make promises like “helping you find your dream home.” They are not restricted to one client type or the other. In practice, they usually represent sellers. Here’s a simple test: Ask a prospective “buyers agent” if they (or the agency they work for) take listings. If the answer is yes, they are not an Exclusive Buyers Agent.
Some agents work for brokerages that practice dual agency or “designated agency.”
If a “buyer agent” gives you a dual agency disclosure, they’re not representing you!
